Student Athlete Spotlight

ECU #59 Daniel Drake

For the last two years, Fayetteville native Daniel Drake,  has played a huge role not only on the field for East Carolina University;s football team, but Daniel has also been an awesome member of the ECU FCA Huddle.  Daniel had 74 tackles this season in 8 games.  He was 2nd and 3rd in the nation in tackles for his first four games before an injury.  Daniel has been to FCA's College Retreat, has spoken to both the ECU huddle and High School Huddles and Daniel is an extremely humble guy both on and off the field.

1.)  What is your favorite Bible Verse and why?

Col. 3:23  "Whatever you do, work at it whole heartedly as working for the Lord, not men." This is my favorite scripture because it reminds me that I am using my sport to glorify God.

2.)  How has your faith helped you deal with the pressures of school, sports, and life?

Faith has been the cornerstone of my tenure as a student athlete at ECU.  It has provided a sturdy balance to the ups and downs of athletics.  It gives me courage to continue to strive in sports and school.  It guides me in being successful in school and in life and it keeps me motivated in fighting the Christian life.  Faith is eternal, it makes temporary problems seem so much smaller and easier now.

3.)  Tell us about your involvement with FCA?

I have been a member of the ECU Huddle since my Sophmore year as well as being involved at my previous school.  I look forward to what God has in store for our huddle this year.
