For the last four years, Asheboro native, Allison Spivey, has not only been a phenomenal athlete on the court, scoring over 1000 points for the Pirates, she has also been a phenomenal leader in our FCA Huddle. Allison was a huddle leader at our FCA Leadership Camp in Wilmington and has been active in many other FCA Events around campus. Allison has also been a tremendous speaker at all of our area middle school and high school huddles and has been a Fields of Faith Speaker. Allison has truly been a model student/athlete and ECU will surely miss her. A Huge Thank you goes out to Alison for all she has done for FCA in Eastern NC.
1.) What is your favorite Bible Verse and why?
It is hard to pinpoint one verse, but as of late my favorite verse is 2 Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."
2.) How has your faith helped you deal with the pressures of school, sports, and life?
My faith has kept me level. Without faith the pressures of school, sports, and life can send you on a roller coaster. Although I still feel the impact of these things my faith has been able to humble me when I need humbling and encourage me when I need encouragement. It also helps me remain less stressed when school, basketball, and life start crashing in on me, because I know that Jesus paid a MUCH bigger price than these daily stresses.
3.) Tell us about your involvement with FCA?
I have been involved in ECU's huddle since my freshman year. I have been a huddle leader at a high school retreat and also at the high school leadership camp during the summer. For the past two summers I also went, as a camper , to the national college conference which is held annually on Labor Day weekend for only college athletes. It's an awesome conference that allows athletes to get away from team training and share with other athletes in faith, compete in different sports, and have FUN!!
